TWO SECONDS #01: Intro, FB Feedback Score & It's Coming Home

TL;DR - This is my first newsletter, I hope you enjoy it! I've also created my first blog post about Facebook's Feedback Score, if that's your thing.

TL;DR

  • This is my first newsletter, I hope you enjoy it!
  • I've also created my first blog post about Facebook's Feedback Score, if that's your thing click here.

Hi, I'm Andrew.

I thought it would be a good idea to start this whole newsletter off with an introduction as to who I am and what this will be about.

INTRO

If you haven't already checked out my About Page, go have a read for a more professional overview.

To save repeating myself, I thought I'd make this part of the letter a bit more personal and fun. With that in mind, I've put together 3 random facts about myself:

I'm learning Italian... kinda.

One thing that I’m doing right now is dabbling with learning Italian. I say dabbling because I wouldn’t call it aggressive learning, rather by osmosis and exposing myself to new words with the chrome extension Toucan (shoutout to the First 1,000 newsletter for this one) and using pre-made Anki decks.

It’ll be interesting to see where this low-key learning takes me over the next year and if I can string a sentence together.

I've never had a cup of coffee.

For some reason hot beverages just don't do it for me, I'd rather have a glass of cold water any day.

That doesn't mean I don't use caffeine though - I am still human. Instead, I get my fix through tablets but I make sure to take no more than 100mg at a time if I'm doing it regularly.

It's probably still okay to do so, after all, that's what pre-workout essentially is, but I wouldn't want to get too reliant on it or wear out any positive effect.

I've been single for... ever

That's right, I've never had a girlfriend.

This hasn't been intentional per se, as I feel it just hasn't happened, rather than being a conscious effort to stay single. However, I probably haven't tried as hard as I should, because it's just very time consuming to go through the whole getting to know each other stage, over and over again (yes, I'm talking about Tinder).

For me, I'd rather spend this time doing something more productive, and as long as I'm putting myself in the situation to let something happen organically, then it'll happen when it happens.

Why the name?

"Two seconds" is an ambiguous term and essentially defines as "in a short period of time" - which is what I wanted my newsletter to be.

When I was thinking of what to call this series and its concept, I didn't want to confine my writing to a pre-defined number of minutes or publishing on a certain day of the week. This way, it leaves it open for me to make each issue of this newsletter more individual and free-flowing.

The name also refers to the Too Long; Don't Read section at the very start of each email, where I condense the whole letter to the main points. Meaning you don't need to miss out on anything if you've only got two seconds spare.

NEW BLOG POST

My very first post on this blog!

They say you should write about what you know, which is what I did with this blog's first post.

It's niche, but it's a good read (if I do say so myself) if you are in a situation where your ads on Facebook are being penalised for customer feedback - something which happened to me with covid, hence what I know.

I’m not going to lie to you, it took me bloody ages to write it.

But as it was my first, I thought it was important to give into my perfectionist personality and get it done right.

Hopefully, over time I can chip away at this part of my brain and be able to put out a 7/8 piece of content that the likes of Seth Godin have said they do, we’ll see...

Facebook’s Feedback Score: The Definitive Guide
Are your ads being penalised? Facebook recognises Feedback Score as a factor in ad quality, potentially costing you more to reach fewer people.

LIFE HACKS

#01

Sign-up for the Healthline newsletter and improve your quality of life through regular sourced health info, straight to your inbox.

I suffer from psoriasis of the scalp (didn't before 2016 so can happen to anyone) and read this article to better understand that I need to use a shampoo with at least 2-10 per cent of coal tar to stop the sleep-depriving irritation.

You can take a look at my whole collection of life hacks, here.

MY FAVOURITES

Song: Three Lions - ★★★★★

It's coming home. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Need I say more?

Film: Aquaman - ★★★★

This was my first watch and I have to say, I enjoyed it a lot. I haven't been too keen on the direction DC has taken towards their own universe, with Wonder Woman probably being my 'best of the bunch'. However, I think this may have topped it for me, let's just hope they get rid of Amber Heard for the sequel.

Have you come across anything interesting recently? If so, send it my way and I’ll check it out.

Until next time,
Andrew.
