TWO SECONDS #04: New Puppy, Sacrificing Health & NFTs

TL;DR

Hey Guys,

We've recently gotten a new family puppy, Ruby.

She's a little cockapoo who's a big handful, turns out, puppies are very time consuming.

I don't know who does the PR for puppies but they need a raise.

Honestly, if anyone's got any tips for surviving this stage, hit me up before I go insane.

Less time has required a lifestyle change of how I focus on my work.

In fact, at the time of writing this segment, I would usually be blissfully asleep getting that all important shut eye Matthew Walker shouts about.

And so this has got me thinking about the trade-off between health and success.

Usually I'm on the side of making sure I get enough rest and to always make time for exercise.

Whilst the latter will never change for anything, sleep is negotiable to some extent.

Instead of trading sleep, I would usually look at the time I waste throughout the day for my opportunity.

However, as those are now fleeting moments with not much to be gained from, sleep has become my chosen currency.

When it comes to healthy entrepreneurs, they are hard to come by. Far fewer who reached success whilst sustaining a health lifestyle.

Though I won't go all in with the #teamnosleep mantra or kidding myself that I'm working harder because I'm staying up until 2-4am like I was as a 20 year old.

I am willing to make this sacrifice to achieve success.

As Ruby grows older, I should be able to return to the golden 8 hours of bedtime (until I have kids), but for now, caffeine will be my friend.

LIFE HACKS

#06

Wear an eye mask to bed - it's cheaper than blackout blinds.

Even though I've never really had trouble sleeping, going from 'I can kind of see' to pitch black, definitely has helped me drift off to sleep easier.

#07

Keep water with you in a flask like a Chilly's bottle because who wants luke warm water?

Drink 3x of the 750ml bottles throughout the day and you're nearly at your 3 litre daily goal - just make up the rest with your meals or protein shake.

MY FAVOURITES

YouTube: Joe Rogan Experience #1309 - Naval Ravikant - ★★★★★

I previously had never heard of Naval until last month or so, but wow... What an episode of the JRE. His wisdom and endless thought provoking soundbites made me an instant fan.

Will watch over and over.

Sport: UFC 268 - Usman vs. Covington 2 - ★★★★★

This might be recency bias but I think that might have been the best fight card that I've ever seen.

Stacked main card, great prelims - everyone delivered. Not into MMA? Watch Justin Gaethje v Michael Chandler to be converted.

Have you come across anything interesting recently? If so, send it my way and I’ll check it out.

STANDOUT SOCIAL

I've been struggling to wrap my head around NFTs and why anyone would care if you owned the original jpeg of an image.

It wasn't until I consumed a few videos from Gary Vee and Andrei Jikh on the subject, that I began to realise this is a long game.

Whilst NFTs mean nothing now, in the future, they will be the way in which we social signal to one another about what we own, along with many other utilities for artists.

I haven't worked out how the average joe can get involved, and yes, make money. So if you do you know how, please get in touch because let's face it, 99% of NFTs will be worthless in the future.

The trick (from what I can see) is to own rare branded items, such as Disney or DC Comics. Of course, even now these are far out of the price range of a normal person and so this could be a game for the already wealthy.

It's certainly an area that I'm going to be keeping an eye on and learning more of.

Until next time,
Andrew.
